THE TRINITY

The Trinity is concerned with EVERY aspect of God’s relationship with men.
A. In his creation

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth
.
(I am no Hebrew scholar, but am told that in the Hebrew language nouns have singular, dual, and plural forms and Elohim, translated God in Gen. 1:1 is plural and therefore refers to three or more. 'Let US' in Gen 1:26 bears this out)

B. In man’s fall
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

C. In the condemnation of man’s evil works
Gen 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

D. In reconciling man to Himself
Isa 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

The Trinity was involved:

A. At the baptism of Jesus
Lu 3:21, Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

B. In His command to the Church to baptize
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

C. Paul’s farewell to the Corinthian Church
II Cor 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

D. In reference to our relationship to God
Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

E. In the promise of the Comforter
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

III The divine title of God applied to each of the persons of the Trinity
A The Father is God

Exo 20:1,And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

B. The Son is God
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
C. the Holy Spirit is God
Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
