Behold His Glory

Text: John 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

Introduction; It is as natural for God to be glorified as it is for man to be prone to sin. It is as natural for him to desire glory as it is for us to want food. The difference is that He WILL be glorified, as He always has whether man likes it or not!

I. His glory in creation.

Psa 19:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.

Psa 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

Yet man still searches for even simple truths about it!

II. His glory in the Law He gave to Israel.

A. The glory of His perfect standard of righteousness.

B. The glory of His goodness.

Exo 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory.

Exo 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

Exo 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Exo 33:21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
Exo 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

Exo 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

III. His Glory as His Son comes to earth.
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying;
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

IV. His Glory in the life of Christ.

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

V. In His death.

A. It was completely voluntary.

John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

In His broken body, see the Glory of God's love.
C. In the broken stones, the rent veil and the opened tomb.

D. In the darkness of the dreadful hour, see the Glory of God.

E. In the Words he spoke from the cross.

VI. In His resurrection.

A. The Glory of the empty tomb.

Luke 24:5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

B. The glory of the angel’s proclamation.

Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

Luke 24:7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

C. John saw the glory of the risen Christ on the Island of Patmos.

Rev.1

VII. He is glorified in His Church.

Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

VIII. He shall be glorified in our resurrection.
2 Th 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

IX. He will be glorified as He sits on the throne of judgment.

X. As He reigns as King of Kings.

XI. At the Great white throne judgment.

Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

XII. As the saints Go marching in!
